TRAVEL AGENTS’ REPORT FROM DISNEY

Travel agents who specialize in Walt Disney World® Resort love visiting there as much as possible. Not only do they take their families to meet Mickey and friends several times a year, they also stay up to date on the latest Disney news and safety measures, have access to training and onsite tours, and can book the latest special offers. Here’s what a few specialists discovered on their February 2021 trip.

Safety & Cinderella's Castle

Walt Disney World® Resort is taking their health and safety measures seriously, but not so serious to dampen any of the magic. Along with reduced capacity across hotels and parks, giving you more space to be socially distant from other visitors, new safety procedures will center around three guiding principles:

  • Enhanced Cleaning: Cleaning procedures are enhanced throughout Walt Disney World®

  • Physical Distancing: Temporary adjustments are in place to promote physical distancing.
  • Reduced Contact: Experiences may be modified in order to reduce contact.

These measures are in place to promote the health and well-being of Guests and Cast Members, while still providing the amazing experience Disney is known for around the globe. To experience these safety measures firsthand, a group of travel agents we trust visited Walt Disney World® Resort in February 2021. Here’s what they had to say.

All guests are required to wear face coverings

Laurie:

The magic still exists at Walt Disney World®. With safety protocols strictly enforced, I feel like it’s one of the safest places you can visit. Wearing a face mask in the Florida heat is definitely worth it to bring some joy back into my life. I’ve had a blast incorporating my mask into my Disney outfits. If you need to wear it, you might as well rock it, right?! I treat it like another accessory to complement my own style.

I highly recommend your mask be comfortable, breathable and light. Be sure to visit the relaxation stations in the Disney Parks where you can sit down, take off your mask, have something to eat or just get off your feet for a while.

The most intimidating thing about visiting Walt Disney World® right now is the sight of all the people. At the time of this writing, theme park capacity is only 35%, and they’re controlling that with advance Park Pass Reservations. However, when you walk into the parks, there is a sea of people. It doesn’t look like 35% capacity at all! But when you realize that most indoor queues have been pushed outdoors and that social distancing measures are in place for those queues, all of a sudden you realize that the lines aren’t that bad at all.

Even the posted wait times for the attractions may not be totally accurate to the amount of time you’ll actually spend waiting in line. Disney has allotted time for short cleaning cycles for the ride vehicles. For example, the wait time for the Haunted Mansion was listed a constant 60 minutes, and I saw that the line twisted and turned through Liberty Square. With it being my favorite attraction, I decided it was worth the long wait. But guess what? I was in my “Doom Buggy” within 20 minutes! Our team often timed how long it took us from getting into line to when we sat down in a ride vehicle and found that our overall wait times were very reasonable, regardless of posted wait times.

The magic is alive at Walt Disney World

Sara:

One of the newer features when planning a Walt Disney World® vacation is the introduction of the Park Pass Reservation system. This system ensures that park capacity is kept in check, and reduced capacity levels means a more relaxed pace.

I also particularly enjoyed the pop-up character cavalcades. These mini-parades are not on any printed schedule, but you know they're coming because special music precedes their appearance. I still have the opportunity to wave hello to all of my friends while not having to stake out a spot on Main Street hours in advance!

The culinary treats throughout the theme parks and resorts is reason alone to plan a vacation to Walt Disney World®! I love that Disney continues to introduce limited-time menu items at the theme parks and resorts. This means that each and every visit, I'll be able to experience something new.

Now that we know the magic is still there and safely happening, talk to your travel advisor about making your family vacation extra special by staying at a Walt Disney World® Resort hotel.
